Penang sets up climate change plan

GEORGE TOWN: Despite managing its water resources effectively, Penang is facing serious challenges where water security is concerned

The state is said to be vulnerable to climate change with the average temperature in urban areas predicted to rise by 1.5% by 2030.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said as such, Penang has taken the lead by developing Malaysia’s first climate adaptation plan with initiatives on cooling urban areas.
