Member (Chair)

Ar. Von Kok Leong is a senior practicing Architect and a Director at Arkitek MAA Sdn Bhd. His initial interest in sustainable design started in 1994 when he was the design and project architect for a housing development in Melbourne, where the site had to be de-contaminated after many decades of industrial usage, before it was allowed to be used for housing.

Ar Von is the Project Director for a high rise commercial development in Kuala Lumpur where it aims to achieve both LEED Gold and GBI Gold ratings. He graduated from the University of Auckland in New Zealand with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1984, and has worked in architectural firms in New Zealand, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia.

Ar Von is a member of the Joint LAM-PAM Sustainability Committee that helped establish the Green Building Index (GBI). He is part of the team that drafted the GBI Non-Residential New Construction (NRNC), Non-Residential Existing Building (NREB), Residential New Construction (RNC) version 3 and the Office Interior Rating Tool. He has presented a number of lectures on green buildings, passive design strategies and on MS1525:2007, the Code of Practice on Energy Efficiency and Use of Renewable Energy for Non-Residential Buildings. He is a member of the Passive Design Working Group for the drafting of the revision for MS1525:2014.

Ar Von has also served as the Course Director, lecturer and examiner for the GBI Facilitator Courses. Ar Von is the first elected President of the Malaysia Green Building Confederation (MGBC). He is also a member of the World Green Building Council (WGBC) Asia Pacific Network Committee.

Ir. Chen Thiam Leong is a Past President of the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM), the Institution of Fire Engineers Malaysia (IFEM) and the Malaysian Chapter of ASHRAE. He is also Advisor to the Malaysian Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Association (MACRA).

Chen is a practising Consulting Engineer and is the Managing Director of Primetech Engineers Sdn Bhd based in Kuala Lumpur. Notable projects include the New Securities Commission HQ which was Malaysia?s first winner of the ASEAN Energy Award (where he introduced the concept of totally ductless and uninsulated floor plenum for comfort air-conditioning exceeding 600 sq.m. per zone) and the Energy Commission HQ, winner of the ASEAN Energy Award 2012, EMERSON CUP 2012 and ASHRAE Technology Award 2013 (2nd Place).

Chen holds a 1st Class Hons Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Leeds and has been involved in Energy Efficiency designs since the early 80s. He regularly lectures in the international circuit on the subjects of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency under the ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer program and is Malaysia?s first ASHRAE DL. Chen also specialises in Energy and Fire & Life Safety audits. He is involved in the development of numerous Malaysian Standards including MS1525 on EE and has authored/co-authored technical articles/papers which are regularly featured in technical publications.

In recognition of his contribution to the engineering fraternity, he was honoured with the ACEM Gold Medal Award in 2010.

Ar Boon Che Wee (APAM, RIBA, AIPDM, APEC Architect, ASEAN Architect) was elected as the President of Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) in August 2009 and in this position, chairs Green Building Index (GBI) and Architect Centre, a PAM subsidiary that provides building advisory and inspection service to the public.

An avowed advocate of green and design as the combined key differentiator in national competitiveness, he has led the Institute on a series of strategic engagement with the Government to extend the reach of the Institute’s industry-wide initiatives in these areas, and speaks often on these subjects in Malaysia and internationally.

Ar Boon Che Wee graduated from the University of Melbourne with both a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons.) and Bachelor of Planning & Design.  He is a Professional Architect and a director of GRA Architects based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.


Director of Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn with over 20 years of experience in the field of architectural planning & design. Graduated from Bartlett School of Architecture and University of Sydney joined Foster & Partners in London for a three year stint before returning to Malaysia. Serina Hijjas have been active in the area of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable design since her formative years in architectural practice in London. Awardee of three Asean Energy Efficiency Awards: ? the 55 storey Telekom Malaysia Headquarters Building (2005); First Runner-Up Securities Commission HQ (2003) and First Runner-Up Putrajaya International Convention Centre (2007). Works extends to Ericsson Building, Putrajaya Lighting and Water masterplan, AIMST University in Malaysia, Shell Headquarters and Celcom Tower. One of the latest of projects includes the new Heriott Watt University campus at Putrajaya with an amazing green roof and total landscape footprint of 80% .

A founding member of the Green Building Index(GBI) and is part of the GBI Accreditation panel. Ar. Serina lectures on Rethinking Sustainability and is a working member on the formation of the Township Green Building Index tool and reference guides for Malaysia.


Ar. Michael Ching is the Company Director of CH+I Architecture Sdn Bhd and BGreen Design Sdn Bhd, both established in 2010.  He obtained his Bachelors of Arts (Architecture) from Deakin University Australia and subsequently, Bachelors of Architecture from University of Malaya. He is currently a Board Member of Malaysia Green Building Confederation (MGBC) and a research committee of Green Pages Malaysia (GPM). He is also an active member in the PAM Professional Practice Committee and as well the PAM Youth Committee.

With over 13 years of experience, Ar. Michael Ching continues his passion and active interest in Green Design. His works has been recognized in the field of sustainability with the recently awarded Silver Award from My Dream Home 2011 under the Green Home Category. The event was jointly organized by the Haven (The Edge), PAM and IPDM. He is also the recipient for the ‘30 Under 40’ Emerging Architects in Malaysia, and event held by PAM in 2011.



Ar Menaha Ramanath is a consultant architect currently specializing in providing architectural and technical advisory to corporations, architects, consultants and individuals. Her Advisories focus particularly on Project Management, Due Diligence Property Inspection, Specification and Contract Administration Documentation as well as value added with Green Building initiatives. Previously, she was engaged as a consultant by Pakatan Reka Arkitek Sdn Bhd for 25 years until 2009, where she also managed the firms’s Quality Management System accredited to the MS ISO 9001:1994 standard from 1998 to 2002, MS ISO 9001: 2000 standard in 2003 and upgraded to the MS ISO 9001:2008 standard in 2009. Currently, engaged by HL Design Group Sdn Bhd as a Consultant for project implementation services for a university development in Technology Park Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.

She has also received appointments as an Arbitrator by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia and Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia respectively since 1990 todate, to resolve professional and contractual disputes in relation to the Architect Engagements, Property and Construction Industry Building Contracts and Sub-contracts.

As an accredited architect with Architect Centre Sdn Bhd since 2009, she is also a trainer in property inspections and she has been engaged by clients to inspect the Building Condition Status for individual properties, condominiums, as well as Due Diligence Inspection and Reports for institutional and commercial buildings for local and foreign investors, Statutory Bodies, Joint Management Bodies, Management Corporations, Developers and Government Linked Companies.


Ir Wong is the managing director of T Y Lin International in Malaysia and also the Director of T Y Lin International Group in USA, China and Vietnam. After graduating with a BSc degree in Civil and structural engineering at University College Cardiff in 1982.

Ir Wong has been in the consultancy engineering services in the current firm for 30 years and involved in structural engineering design of highrise buildings, bridges, airports and stadiums. Some of the notable projects are the Cap Square mixed development, W Hotel, Berjaya Central Park, Changi Airport Terminal building 2, 300 m span cable stayed bridge at Kuala Baram.

Ir Wong served in Council and the President of the Association of Consultant Engineers Malaysia from 2011 to 2013. At the same time, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Green Building Index Sdn Bhd. Ir Wong has served in the drafting committee of Malaysian Standards in SIRIM and The Institution of Engineers Malaysia such wind code, concrete products and current amendment of the building By Laws.


Ir Wong Shu Leong is a Past President of the Association of Consulting Engineers, Malaysia (ACEM). Ir Wong graduated from University of Singapore and had worked in Singapore Public Utilities Board before joining Sepakat Setia Perunding Sdn Bhd in 1979. He became Managing Director of SSP (E&M) Sdn Bhd an Electrical & Mechanical practice since 1991 and retired from this post in 2013 while still being retained in SSP Board of Directors. His company has been involved in many large projects in the country such as airports, ports, railway, water & sewage treatment plants, toll & traffic surveillance systems, industrial complexes, high end condominiums, office towers, convention centres, hospitals, retail malls and universities/training centres.

Ir Wong had served in many technical committees and working groups in ACEM, BEM, CIDB, and SIRIM. He sat in the SIRIM Working Committee on MS 1525:2001 and was the Chairman of the Strategic Trust Working Group on Technology, Knowledge and Research & Development, CIDB Master Plan (2004), Chairman of Dry Fire Technical Committee (SIRIM), Chairman of WG on Lightning Protection (SIRIM), member of Industry Standard Committee on Fire and member of National Accreditation Committee (Department of Standards). He is now serving in BEM Engineers Act Committee, Professional Practice Committee, Certificate of Completion and Compliance Sub-Committee and Examination & Qualification Committee and in a Steering Committee on Energy Efficiency in SEDA.

Ir Wong is a regular lecturer for ACEM Induction course for young graduates on electrical systems.



Loo Ming Chee is a director with Langdon & Seah Sdn Bhd. He graduated ?many, many years ago? from the UK with a first class honours degree in Quantity Surveying and subsequently, an M.Sc degree in Management Science & Operational Research from the Warwick Business School, University of Warwick.

In addition to his working experience in Malaysia, he has spent more than 10 years working overseas in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Brunei, Pakistan and China.

Besides being a chartered quantity surveyor, he is also a chartered IT professional. He has been a Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers since 1994 and locally, he has served in various capacities with the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia and Lembaga Juruukur Bahan Malaysia.

His achievements in his career has been a varied one but he prefers to focus on his 'yet-to-do' list that includes completing a full marathon, climbing Mont Kinabalu, meeting the Dalai Lama in person, reducing his car CO2 emissions to below 110 g/km and many more.

His current ambition is to retire healthier, happier and a lot wiser.

Chor Wah


Ir. Ahmad Rashidi is a senior practicing Electrical Engineer and Director of SSP (E&M) Sdn Bhd, an Electrical & Mechanical Consulting Engineering Firm based in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. He graduated from Colorado School of Mines, USA and has been a practicing engineer for more than 20 years.

Ir. Ahmad Rashidi has been involved in many large projects such as railway, ports, airports, industrial city, water & sewage treatment plants, high end landed residential development, office buildings, training centers and mosques.

Ir. Ahmad Rashidi is currently a Council Member of Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM) where he is serving as the Chairman of the ICT Committee. He is also actively serving in various technical committees and working groups in ACEM, SIRIM and LLM.
